Joan: Geez, I guess I would entitle this specific story "Pronouns Matter."

It was late summer 2021, and I prioritized connecting with another female business owner. At that time, by phone. 

In the course of that conversation, we exchanged so much about the challenges we were facing. Among mine, was feeling like I was being muzzled. How my reality was being undermined. And I shared how I was recently told: "No one cares about your story." 

But I was lying to her. Because the actual statement was "No one cares about our story."

With that, here are some reasons why we're doing this podcast

Because people are too quick to tell your story.
Because people don't bother fact checking.
Because people benefit from twisting your truth in their favor.

Remember, you deserve to tell your own story.

After all, in the words of Cindy Gallop: "If nobody speaks up, nothing changes."
